August 19, 2011 – Eritrean Dining Experience

My roommates on Thursday night dined at a lovely French restaurant in The City (that’s Brisbane).  For the four of them the bill was $260, which included a bottle of wine, so not too bad.  Tim offered that I could go out to dinner with him and Frederico on Friday night.  I had a dining event with USQ staff in 2009 to an Eritrean Restaurant, Muooz, in Moorooka, which is about 25km from Springfield towards Brisbane.  The food is very similar to Ethiopian food, as they were once part of Ethiopia.  Click this link to learn more about Eritrean culture.

Frederico had never experienced this type of North African food, so we were excited for him to have the experience.  They roasted the coffee beans, and Frederico and I were brave enough to have the highly caffeinated brew.  Tim can’t have caffeine.  The pictures will tell the rest of the story.

We had a lamb dish, chicken leg curry, chickpea mush, and stewed pumpkin.

It’s a lot like Turkish coffee. I made mine better with a big teaspoon of ice cream.
